100th Anniversary of Building 'N': Historic Waimea Schoolhouse

1 October 2026
Isaacs Art Center 1pm - 4pm isaacsartcenter@hpa.edu

Please join us as we salute the centennial of the historic Waimea Elementary School Building N, a Hawaiʻi Island landmark that has served the surrounding community as a schoolhouse, military hospital, and fine arts museum. Opened to regional students in 1916, the quintessential plantation-style structure was saved from demolition, relocated to its current site, and meticulously restored in 2003. Today, it is a major showcase for historic art of Hawaiʻi and home to the world’s largest collection of works by Madge Tennent.

The birthday party, free and open to the public, will highlight the schoolhouse’s unique history & feature live entertainment, birthday cake & refreshments, and guided tours of Rhythm of the Round: The Modernism of Madge Tennent.
