Cornelia Foley cut sinuous contour lines, with minimal areas of hatching and shading, into her wood block to simply and sensually define the form of a young woman holding a calabash. She complemented the smooth sideways movement of the woman's body with the flowing pattern of her pareu and the gentle sway of surrounding foliage. Honolulu Printmakers distributed this elegant composition of pleasing rhythms and undulating forms as its annual gift print in 1937.
